The weekend of the 17th of March, about 23 La Tour students of the Anglophone Section took part in PACMUN (Paris Annual Conference Model United Nation), a conference that is based around a special theme every year. For this year’s terrorism theme, 130 students were welcomed from around the world to ASP (the American School of Paris). The principal objective of this conference is to have a life-changing journey that will help them develop confidence in leading others, a stronger awareness of global issues, and the chance to make new friends from around the world.
Students debated various topics concerning the issue of preventing terrorism, ranging from immigration to aiding war-torn countries. Delegates debated and passed both constructive and intelligent resolutions that address this issue that has unfortunately hit too close to home for many. The conference was organized and led by the club President Kosta and Secretary General Jules Grelot, the chairs from ASP.
To have the best simulation possible, the students had to learn about the history, geography, culture, and economic situation of their country. This increased their knowledge regarding many countries, to improve their public speaking, leadership skills etc.
Mrs. Velut was very satisfied with the way the conference unfolded, as was Philippe, a 4eme student who participated to PACMUN, who said that the conference was a success and all the students loved it.
